Design Engineer / Project Engineer
W&A has immediate openings for two full-time engineers
to assist with existing projects and to carry major responsibility
for new projects.
Our biggest
new project is development of Autonomous Guidance Units
(AGU) under contract to the
US Army. At least two sizes
of the AGU will be developed to steer hi-glide parachutes
supporting cargo weighing as much as 30,000 lbs to precise
destinations. W&A does not design the parachutes and
has only limited influence over the development of the avionics
and software, which are being provided by other contractors.
Other current contracts include:
- Develop
special purpose data acquisition packages and sensors
- Personnel
parachute hardware
- Next generation of G-Tester (described
elsewhere on this website)
Applicants must have many of the following credentials or
skills:
- BS or MS degree in either Mechanical or Aerospace
Engineering is required
- Five years or more of experience
- Proven track record in
mechanical or electro-mechanical product design and development
- Ability
to write clear, concise proposals, reports and instruction
manuals.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
- Experience,
skill, and/or desire to perform customer liaison and some
program management administrative duties
- Work cooperatively
with other members of our team and with the clients
- Willingness
and ability to perform “hands-on” fabrication
and testing of prototypes
- Proficiency with software
applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation
graphics
- Experience in combining electronic and mechanical
subsystems to achieve motion control
- Talent for writing
and delivering technical papers at conferences would
be a bonus.
